The summer is shaping up to be disappointing. On Tuesday morning, a large number of prospective travelers faced disappointment as New York City-area airports had to cancel and delay over a hundred flights due to ongoing storms in the region.
According to FlightAware, as of early Tuesday, Newark Liberty International Airport alone had to cancel 136 departing flights and delay an additional 14. The tracker showed that over 180 flights bound for Newark were also canceled.
Furthermore, LaGuardia Airport had to cancel 65 flights and delay 18, while John F. Kennedy International Airport experienced 21 cancellations and 43 delays.

According to USA Today, approximately 1,600 flights within the United States were canceled on Monday, with an additional 5,800 flights facing delays due to strong storms that brought intermittent rain, thunder, and lightning to the Northeast region.
According to the outlet, the Federal Aviation Administration had previously cautioned passengers about potential disruptions in summer travel within the New York area, citing a shortage of air traffic controllers.
Fox Weather informed The Post that a significant storm threat is looming from North Carolina to the New York-Canada border on Tuesday, with the most intense activity expected along the I-95 corridor from Washington, DC, to New York.
Meteorologist Seth Darling explained that these storms are progressing in a linear pattern from south to north, with anticipation of increased heavy rainfall.

Despite the evident threat posed by the weather conditions, stranded passengers have swiftly expressed their frustration towards airlines for the cancellations and delays through social media.
After experiencing multiple days of cancellations, another traveler, who was originally scheduled to depart from JFK, took to Twitter to share their revised travel itinerary.
They expressed their frustration, stating, “After two days of canceled flights from JFK, I’ve decided to give up. I’m currently heading to Penn Station via Uber to catch a train to DC and fly back to the West from there… Wish me luck!”
According to the latest updates on Tuesday morning, United Airlines tops the list with 337 flights canceled and 96 flights experiencing delays.
